Sylvia Fontanez's Obituary
The Celebration of Life service is to honor Sylvia's life.
Sylvia Fontanez, born October 27, 1947, in Manhattan, NY, was sent to her eternal resting place on February 1st, 2025, in Lawrenceville, Ga surrounded by loved ones.
Sylvia was affectionately known as wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a shining light to the family. She was kind and loving. She loved being around the kids, laughing and loving on them. She loved to talk and get to know others. She was a hard worker, who loved her family who passed down grit, courage, and a strong sense of family values that had always been displayed throughout the whole family.
She is survived by her husband Mario Fontanez Sr, her two children Melissa Session (Fontanez), Mario Fontanez Jr, her son in law Jarrett Session, Lily and Robert Rispoli (family friends who are like a daughter and son to her).
Sylvia is survived by her sisters Mildred Cookson, and Lydia Fuentes. She is preceded in death by her mother Lydia Rivera Gerena, father Juan Fuentes, her stepfather Carlos Enrique Rivera, her sister Sonia Geigel and brother Frankie Fuentes.
She had six Grandchildren Summer Guido, Justin Guido, Brandon Guido, Vanessa Buckles, Christine Rispoli and William Rispoli. She had five great grandchildren Lilliana Guido, Griffin Guido, Iris Herlache, Milo Brown and Luna Baggallay.
Married with family and all, Sylvia wanted to continue her education. She went to Miami Dade College for Business Administration and received her Bachelor's Degree.
Her journey on this earth was marked through love, faith and compassion. Sylvia loved attending church at 316 Fellowship in Lawrenceville, Ga.
Sylvia was a dynamic fashionista in her own right. She loved a good outfit and often went shopping. She also loved concerts, and she told multiple stories of going to see Micheal Jackson, Gloria Estefan, Cecilia Cruz and many others. She loved music and dancing and was known to frequent dance clubs, cabaret and being the life of the party at family gatherings. She also loved a good book. She would read three to four at a time. She loved to travel, to name a few, London, Paris and many other places.
She is a foodie and had an avid sweet tooth. She didn't pass on a good dessert and delicious cuisine.
Sylvia will be missed by her loved ones and even though she is gone her light and memory will continue to live on through many.
