Diaz, Pedro's Obituary
In Memoriam
Pedro Luis Díaz, a beloved resident of Hialeah, Florida, peacefully passed away at his home with his wife on Thursday, June 25, 2026 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He leaves behind a cherished legacy of love, laughter, and a profound impact on the lives of those who knew him. Pedro, affectionately known as Pilin, was a beacon of knowledge, tenacity, and compassion, touching the hearts of those he met with his fiery spirit.
Pedro Luis Diaz was born on May 1, 1944 in Central Baltony, Los Reynaldos, Cuba to Pedro Saturnino Diaz and Luisa Prada. He grew up in Guantanamo Oriente a Province in Cuba where he lived until the age of 12. In 1957, his family moved to Miami and he attended Ada Merritt. He then joined the Army at seventeen years old on 1/8/1962, where he served under the Fifth Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colorado until 12/6/1963. After he returned from the Army, he attended Miami Dade College and earned his degree in Computers. He then went on to study and achieve his dream of becoming a licensed Pilot and did a solo cross country flight from Miami to Chicago. Pedro had a fulfilling career, working as a successful Plumber.
His greatest joy in life was his role as a devoted father and husband. He is survived by his wife Ketty Diaz, and their children Pedro, Jorge, Karina Diaz, adopted daughter Yolanda, and his grandchildren Katia, Natalia, Jorge, Olivia, and Matías. He is also predeceased by his loving father Pedro Saturnino Diaz, mother Luisa Prada, and sister Miriam Peña. Pedro’s life was enriched by the love and support of countless neighbors, friends, and relatives. Pedro cherished numerous family traditions, including annual family vacations, camping, exploring the country by RV, visits to the Great Smokey Mountains, activities such as traveling the world with his beloved wife, his annual trips to New England in the fall to view the foliage, the Cherry Blossoms in DC in the Spring, and exploring the National Parks in November. Pedro enjoyed leisurely days exploring South Florida, accompanying Ketty shopping, and their date nights to Carrabba’s, Applebee’s, and Bahama Breeze.
His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him, as he leaves behind an enduring legacy and fighting spirit. We want to extend our deepest gratitude to all of the doctors, nurses, staff, and our loving family and friends who guided us and supported Pedro through his medical journey.
May he finally rest in eternal peace.
