Hola compañeros JRR. Otra lamentable y triste noticia para nuestra Juventud Radical Revolucionaria, ha fallecido en Estados Unidos, DOMINGO ARIAS Q.E.P.D. Nuestras condolencias a su familia
I will miss you every day papi. Please watch over mami and our family. We are you legacy and will keep making you proud.
I feel grateful for having the chance of meeting him back in 2018 when, Domingo’s grandson Fernando (my partner) and I, went to the US.
All that lovely moments that we share, will be always in my heart and memories.

Domingo Arias (who died unexpectedly today) arrived at our home in December, 1977, straight out of the Arena in Chile, where he was being held as the activist head of the Teachers' Union. His wife Monica (an accountant) and his daughters Tatiana Arias (O'Connor) and Claudia Arias ( Sirinna) would join him two years later, only after high level intervention from the Yale TB clinic with the Junta government. Domingo fit right in despite no English (and my poor French). Sam was born the same day. Domingo helped us wallpaper our first house on Emerson Street. A man of stunning character and principle, he built a successful career in college administration here from scratch. We enjoyed key events and celebrations with their family till the age when their parents' friends were no longer the hub of the children's social life. We've watched their girls grow into brighter lights than our own lights. But, Domingo (and Monica) will always be the young voices whose shouts for HOPE and JUSTICE carried them here, to New Haven, and into our hearts forever. Our love goes out to Monica, Tati and Claudia, grandchildren and to all whose lifeline has been steeled while Domingo walked among us.

Although I did not have the opportunity to meet him in person, I met him through his wonderful daughter Claudia. Your legacy remains and as a Honduran living in Connecticut, I will be eternally grateful for everything you did for many of us Latinxs here in Connecticut. Muchas gracias por abrir puertas y ventanas, por construir puentes, y por pelear por muchos estudiantes Latinxs y profesionales como yo. Rest in power, warrior Domingo. Claudia and I will keep carrying your legacy!
Domingo, You were an incredible man of strength and compassion. I enjoyed our year’s together, especially when you would call me for “updates” on CCSU stuff. I will truly missed those conversations.
May you rest in pease!
