Dolores Isabel Contreras' Obituary
It is with heartfelt sorrow and deep love that we announce the passing of Dolores Isabel Contreras, age 86, who departed this world in the early morning hours of October 13, 2025 in Miami, Florida.
Dolores was born on November 5, 1938, in Mariel, Pinar del Río, Cuba, to Arturo Hernández and María Julia Bravo. She spent her early years in the beautiful seaside town of Mariel, Cuba.
In 1967, due to political unrest in her beloved Cuba, Dolores along with her husband Miguel and daughters came to Miami, Florida seeking freedom and better opportunities for their young family.
Dolores was a gifted seamstress, known especially for creating her daughters’ wedding dresses, each one crafted with care, precision, and love. Her hands wove more than fabric; they wove memories, traditions, and deep bonds. She was not just a mother and grandmother, she was the heart of the family. She raised her grandchildren on her incredible Cuban cooking: aromatic, soulful, and unforgettable. Friends and family would always remember how her kitchen smelled of spices, love, and laughter. She was the best mother, grandmother, mentor, and friend to so many.
In her latter years, Dolores and Miguel moved to Clermont, Florida to enjoy their retirement and embark on many travel adventures. After his passing she returned to Miami, where she would spend her remaining years. Though she walked many paths and lived through challenging times, she remained devoted to family, faith, and heritage along with great pride for the country that allowed her the opportunity to live a fulfilling life.
Dolores was preceded in death by the love of her life, Héctor Miguel Contreras, they were blissfully married for 56 years.
She is survived by her three beloved daughters and their husbands, Mayra Isabel and Humberto, Ana María and Jorge, Daysi and Manuel; preceded in death by son in law Knut. She is survived by her cherished grandchildren, Jackelyn and husband Jaime, Katrina and partner Erica, Michael and partner Danielle, Humbertico and wife Tiffany, Daniel and wife Shyama; and her joy, her great-grandchildren: Jaime, Joseph, Jacob, and Jonathan.
Now reunited with her beloved Miguel known as Neni to the family, we take comfort knowing they are dancing together in heaven.
A Catholic Mass will be held at St Raymond Church Friday October 17th at 12:30PM followed by burial at Memorial Park Cemetery 6200 SW 77th Ave Miami FL. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
We invite all who loved her to join us in celebrating a life lived with devotion, kindness, and generous love.
Spiritual Reflection
“Know, know for sure, my dearest, littlest, and youngest son, that I am the perfect and ever Virgin Holy Mary… I will give Him to the people in all my personal love, in my compassion, in my help, in my protection, because I am truly your merciful Mother…”
-Our Lady of Guadalupe
May Dolores rest in the maternal arms of the Virgin of Guadalupe, under whose mantle we find comfort, protection, and unending love.
