I always have such fond memories of Lolita. As a child I can remember how giving and open she was. She would let kids have practice for their quinces in her driveway. Sometimes she would make sure I could get to school. I was always welcomed in her house. She was always proud of whatever she did, cooking, sewing, travelling. As I got older she would show me in her little back room what was her latest sewing project and the latest wedding dresses she was working on. I also watched her be a relentless caregiver for her parents, kids and grandkids. She never complained. She had the most infectious laugh that made you laugh with her. As I got older she shared with me her garbanzo stew recipe, which I make around the holidays and think of her. How lucky was I to have known such a kind and giving spirit. She always opened her heart to everyone she came in contact with. The world could use more Lolita’s and I was blessed to have known her.
