David Gabriel Garcia's Obituary
Emmanuel Garcia
Where do I start, it’s hard to be honest. So many memories, moments, and things me and my brother David overcame, it was always me and him against the odds. You always saw me as your partner in crime, while I saw you as an example and someone I could always look up to. Whenever I needed advice, you were always there with an answer, and if we didn’t know the answer to something, we ventured off into trouble and the unknown. When I was down, you lifted me up, and always reminded me of who I was, and vice versa. We always dreamed of having our own place, doing crazy stuff, and becoming the best versions of ourselves. We always wanted to see people happy and learn different stories from people who were broken but had the noblest of hearts. Speaking of noble, you had a heart of gold, you were the noblest amongst us four brothers. You would give the clothes off your back, the food on your plate, sacrifice your time, money or whatever it was at the time, to help an individual and see them happy. We could’ve been in the worst of places, but you always found a soul to help and always saw the good in them no matter what they may have done in their life. One act of random kindness, that’s what you always did, and I admired you for it. You will always be with us in everything we do, and your beautiful spirit will live on in those who you left a life print on. You always wanted to prove to us that you were someone and worth something, but you never had to do that, you were the best of us, and you would never need anyone’s approval, only the Lords which He loved and loves you more than anything. “I love you, I’ll see you on the other side” those your words, and I will see you soon. To celebrate the beautiful things we did, and to forever rejoice with the king of kings. Save me a room up there, will ya? Don’t worry about us down here, the mission is still going, the battles continue, but through your impact and love, things will be easier. I love you Tata, you will always be our older brother and my best friend.

David Gabriel Garcia was born in Hialeah, Florida on February 21, 1994. He lived most of his life in Homestead, Florida and he was the oldest of the four brothers. To our family he was known as “Tata” and to others they had significant nicknames for him. Tata loved reading suspenseful novels, the kind that made your brain work overtime. He had a passion for creating and listening to music, leaving behind many original song lyrics he wrote by himself. He and I enjoyed playing strategic games or solving difficult puzzles. His three brothers would bother him about his ears, but he knew that they did it out of love since he often picked on their insecurities as well. His passionate and competitive nature was tested between him and his brothers constantly. Between their intellect, they even created their own dialect that only they spoke and a few chosen could understand. The bond between the brothers was unexplainable and when together others admired their connection. Everywhere Tata journeyed, people loved him and every place he stepped foot people knew who he was.
Moving to Honduras in 2007, he found a greater purpose serving as a missionary for five and a half years. Here he would grow into his teenage years, form unbreakable friendships, serve as a servant of God inside and outside brigades, and graduate from Hamilton high school in 2011. These were the most influential years of his livelihood and would shape him into the man he became. Returning in January 2013 was a struggle for him, as he did not want to return to the United States. Though it was hard, he did not let this stop him from striving to succeed. He was a hard-working person and people often noticed this characteristic about him. He genuinely cared for others, especially those that he loved most and if they needed anything he was there no matter if he was struggling himself. Neither status or looks could stop him from bringing joy or love to others. He had a heart of gold, a noble one. Without a doubt his most prominent physical feature was his smile, which he knew that he inherited it from his mother Janet Figueroa. These words are not enough to explain how important he is to his family and friends. I will always miss you Tata and there is nothing that can take away the void in my heart of not having you here next to us. Only God’s love and comfort of knowing that you are in heaven with him can help us continue our journey’s. I love you, older brother, always and forever.

Tata, words can’t describe how much I miss you. Although you are not physically here, I know that you are in a better place filled with love. You always did your best and I looked up to that. No matter what, you strived and never give up. You were truly a role model to me and a great brother. I miss you with all my heart, but God always knows what’s best. From the bottom of my heart, I love you Tata and you’ll forever be in my heart.
