Ms. Barbara Ann Epps-Justice entered eternal rest Tuesday, August 6, 2024. Barbara was born in Merigold, Mississippi to the late Booker T. and Braddie B. Epps on May 24,1958. The family moved to Benton Harbor, Michigan in 1959. She confessed hope in Christ at a young age and was baptized at Main Street Seventh-day Adventist Church. Barbara graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1976 (Home of the Tigers!) and received her bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University in 1982.
Barbara was a committed educator for Miami Dade County Public Schools for over 35 years. She SET the standard for excellence while ensuring the success of learners in classrooms at Florida City Elementary, Ludlam Elementary, Redland Middle School & Caribbean K-8. Mrs. Justice’s teaching style and investment-based mentoring has had lifelong impacts on the lives of her students and friends.
Ms. Justice had an innate ability to be a mother, friend, cheerleader and therapist to those in her village. Barbara was also an avid animal/nature lover, supporter and advocate. Her presence made an unforgettable impression upon everyone/everything she encountered. Ms. Justice proudly represented her African American heritage through her self-proclaimed DIVA attire and stilettos and her commitment to annual Black History Month activities and programs.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Booker and Braddie Epps; four brothers, Brazil Epps, Booker T. Epps, George (Beoria) Epps and Clifton Epps; three sisters, Beatrice Epps, Georgia Epps, and Dorothy Epps, her beloved friend, Gail Williams and her faithful 4-legged companion, Tulip.
Her legacy proudly lives on and is evident in the lives of her two sons Kelvin Justice Jr., Adrian (Latisha) Justice; two sisters, Braddie Epps, Nanci Epps; one brother, Willis (Mary) Epps Sr.; fiancé, Efrain Cabrera and a host of relatives, friends, co-workers and associates.
