All I know from seeing but mostly hearing the stories from Emilio, is that Ms Yolanda was a loving, dedicated and hard working woman that will most definitely be missed by many. Rest in Heaven, Dońa Yolanda. 💐💐💐
She raised a great friend of mine, Emilio. They don't make people like her or my parents anymore, who never got a chance to go home, and bueno ya viene llegando?, who came over in 1961. We will carry the torch of that generation that made us who we are and took that leap of faith. We now have another one upstairs looking down upon all of us forever. John
Yolanda will always have a special place in my heart. She was an amazing woman and a hard worker that loved her kids tremendously.
I got to meet Yolanda a long time ago, and she taught me a couple of things in life, but what I most admire about her was the love she had for her kids, that only a mother could understand.
I used to go to her kids’ games with her, and it was always very exciting sitting next to her. When they would make a throw, she would scream, “
Ese es mi hijo. Me looking back now, I see me loving my kids just as she did and showed me.
I will always be thankful for having her in my life.
Ms. Yola was a force of nature. I have never met anyone with such a zest for life!
She was a trailblazer, founding Yolanda Latin Employment in Miami at a time when it was no small feat for a woman to run any business, let alone one serving the Spanish speaking community.
She did it with courage, under very difficult circumstances as a single mother.
As unique as her professional life was, what made Ms. Yola a singularity was her innate understanding that the present moment was all.
In the program " The Sandman" they feature a character that is considered a “vortex." A person whom everyone gathers around, folks that normally dont have a thing in common getting together because of her.
She was generous and her home was the gathering place you wanted to be.
Going out with her meant stepping into a world where she knew everyone, from the owner of the establishment to the kitchen help.
Lord knows she was strong minded, could be overpowering and we sure didn’t always see eye to eye.
But she was my mentor. She showed me that strength and joy are not opposites, and a sense of humor is what makes this hard life bearable.
All who knew her understand what I mean. 💓
