My memory with exact dates is blurry now, but the beginning of my friendship with Sylvia goes back more than three decades ... to when Ricci was little. Although he won't remember it, Ricci first introduced me to Sponge Bob Square Pants as he watched cartoons on TV @ their Carmona Ave apartment. And even before, many memories from their residence near Crenshaw/Wilshire.
For 30+ years, I happily existed on the cusp (without any significant overlap) of Sylvia's other great friendships ... and she shared countless wonderful stories 'about all of you' with me - because I was a safe confidante.
In some cases, our paths may have crossed over the years (in Los Angeles or San Diego, or only by telephone.) I can absolutely say this ... Sylvia was *FILLED WITH GRATITUDE* for you all. (We often spoke of how blessed we each were to have so many good friends!)
For a period of time, I was Director of Promotions at two California radio stations. Sylvia loved (and excelled at) "Promotions"... Over the years, we spent countless hours reminiscing about people we knew (separately or mutually) and our fun experiences in the music industry. It was a good life!
Lots of laughs and many "wow" moments!
As we got older, and experienced more losses, our conversations turned more sentimental. We talked about life and death "stuff" and miscellaneous dreams unfulfilled. We reflected on spiritual "stuff" and spoke aloud prayers in our hearts. Sylvia KNEW AND LOVED GOD and that's comforting now.
Most of all, your mom lovvvvvvvvvvved you Ricci (and inhaled/exhaled every breath since you were born feeling proud of you!) If you need ANYTHING please reach out.
