Scott Allen Matza's Obituary
Scott Matza, age 71, of Homestead Florida, passed away Saturday morning June 4th, 2022. Born February 23, 1951, Scott was a loving father, proud grandfather, exceptional friend, an "old car guy”, and so much more.
Scott had a knack for not only making the best of every situation, but for bringing out the best in those around him. Be it an old car that needed restoration, a friend that needed his expertise, or someone he loved who simply needed him, Scott always found a way to deliver and make the people and things he touched better. He had keen wit, an eye for beauty, undeniable wisdom, irresistible charm, and comedic timing that even a stroke could not throw off. The effort he put into everything he did was second to none and I would challenge you to find another person as mentally, emotionally, and physically tough as he was, especially later in life, when he told death on multiple occasions “not today, I’m busy”.
He always could see the beauty and value of people, places, and things and seldom, if ever, took them for granted. He loved life and all it brought with it, embracing the good along with the bad, and when things seemed to be at their worst he’d smile and say “forget about it, it is what it is”. He was far from perfect, but those who knew him didn’t care in the least, and loved him as though he were. He is survived by his children Shane, Kevin, and Robyn, the woman he loved, Carolyn “Cookie” Leone, and a long and distinguished list of friends and family that loved him.
In the end all we can ask for is a life well lived, Scott Matza can say without a moment's hesitation that he in fact did.
