Samuel Santo Porco Jr. D.M.D's Obituary
Samuel Santo Porco Jr was born January 9th, 1941 in Sewickley, PA. He was a graduate of South Dade High School in 1958, and a graduate of Florida State University in 1962 with a Bachelors in Biology. In June of 1962 he married his wife Patricia, and together they had 4 children, who then went on to have 10 grandchildren. He was a Miami-Dade schoolteacher from 1962-1963.
Samuel was a graduate of the Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 1967, and had an Honorable Discharge from the Florida Army National Guard in 1965, where he served since 1957 as a Sergeant. In 1967 to 1968 he was the Chief of Dentistry for the Florida State Hospital in Miramar and Pembroke Pines, and had his own private practice from 1967 until his retirement on February, 2004.
He was a member of the Board South Dade Mental Health, Miami-Dade chapter, the American Cancer Society,and the Perrine-Cutler Ridge Rotary in the 1970's and 1980's. Sam was also a charter member of Fish & Game Unlimited from 1983 to 2000 and was a three term President, a chairman of Angling Activities for the Miami Beach Rod & Reel Club, a board member of the South Florida Metropolitan Fishing Tourney for 38 years, and a founder of the Youth Fishing Foundation Inc., in 1996.
Samuel was also a member of the Homestead- Florida City Chamber of Commerce from 1986 until the present day, a member of the Rotary Club of Homestead as President Elect from 2011 to 2012, and President of Tra/Mas Fine Art Proprietor Company.
He is survived by his loving children Troy(Married to Chrissy), Matt(Married to Jen), Derek, and Dina(Married to Brian Rank), and his beloved grandchildren, Caroline Porco, Connor Porco, Nico Porco, Mateo Porco, Jessica Porco, Jenna Porco, Joseph Porco, Change Rank, Colton Rank, and Cannon Rank
