Rosiris Melendez's Obituary
Rosiris Melendez, 64, born in Barranquilla, Colombia on December 28, 1958, passed on March 17, 2024 in Miami, Fl. of Multiple Sclerosis and Rheumatoid arthritis.
Rosiris was the first daughter of Ana Melgarejo and Manuel Melendez, and she loved how family oriented they both were. Rosiris’ favorite childhood memory was of her taking trips to her grandmother’s town of Savana Grande in northern Colombia during her time off from school. She loved to play soccer barefoot in her native neighborhood of Rebolo. She loved to learn and was a great student. She migrated with her husband, Osvaldo Oliveros, to the United States in 1978 and completed technical school for travel and tourism. She was a travel agent for many years, which granted her access to many destinations. She had two children, Oswald Oliveros born in 1980, and Rosana Oliveros in 1984. Her most highlighted memories with her family were going on cruises to the Bahamas and to Cancun with her husband. She had a soft spot for Gitano, a larger than life dog, Nikki a small black and white chihuahua, Hans her son’s savannah cat, and Maya, her daughter’s yorkie. She was an active member of several catholic churches in Miami, devoting her time and energy to god. Everyone who knew Rosiris, knew how much she loved to dress in contrasting colors and patterns, her love for dancing, music, exercising, and attending spinning, yoga and pilates classes. She will always be remembered by her humor and the way that she always put her family first, which included her parents and six siblings, who she brought to the United States.
Rosiris was preceded by her grandmother Juana Pacheco Melgarejo, Ana Melgarejo, Manuel Melendez, and her sister Magaly Melendez and is survived by Oswald and Rosana Oliveros.
Rosiris’ service is on March 22nd at 1pm at Miami Memorial Park Cemetery at 6200 SW 77th ave Miami, Fl. 33143.
