Ronald Black's Obituary
Ronald Black passed away from cancer on July 27th, 2019 at 2:18 am in his home surrounded by loving family in Homestead, Florida.
He was the sixth of nine children born to Mildred and Lester Black. Ronnie was born in a tent on the side of the road in Mexico. Eventually his family moved to the Homestead area around 1950 which is where he lived most of his life among friends and family. He spent 3 years with the Army during the Vietnam War and afterwards he traveled for work in between Michigan and Florida. But soon after meeting his future wife in South Carolina, he settled down in Homestead to raise his family and except for vacations and work trips, never moved away.
He met many wonderful friends during his years of working in the local farming community and he never wanted to stop working or helping his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife Maria Black of 47 years of marriage and daughter Melinda Black as well as his sisters Naomi Keith, Jean Wilson, Carol Rafield, and Karen Sanderson. He has many loving family members who will miss him greatly.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the scholarship fund managed by his fellow South Dade High School graduates to benefit the future generations of Homestead.
