Rick Kidwell's Obituary
Rick Kidwell, Master Captain and resident of Marathon, Florida passed away in his home on March 15th , 2021 at the age of 55. He is survived by his wife Mary, his two young children, Brooklyn (9) and Troy (13), and his daughter, Tiffany (36).
Rick was born in Baltimore Maryland on October 15th , 1965 to Eugene Norman Kidwell and Barbara Ann Moyer and was raised with his siblings, Kathleen K. Kidwell and Norman Michael Kidwell. He was first married to Frances Lin Bradshaw (deceased in 2004) on October 31, 1983, who is the mother of Tiffany Kidwell. The three of them traveled together all along
the east coast and throughout most of Florida and finally settled in Marathon, Florida in 2000.
Rick married Mary Adams, mother of Troy and Brooklyn, on July 4th , 2010 in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Rick was a professional photographer, truck driver, boat captain and jack of all trades. He also dedicated endless hours to the voluntary rebuilding of Marathon after Hurricane Irma in 2017, in conjunction with St. Columba Church. He has done so much for many people in our community and was well loved and appreciated.
Rick was a lover of music and often sang and played guitar. He was very proud of all of his children’s accomplishments, but he was especially proud that his children shared his musical talent. He was able to live out his dreams of traveling, owning multiple businesses and homes, living on a sailboat and raising two families. He worked hard to establish his final career and obtain the license as a Master Captain.
Throughout his life, Rick supported his parents, siblings, multiple family members and friends in their times of need, and was the rock and backbone for many people. He had an awesome sense of humor and was empathic, helping pull many people from dark places. He was in high spirits even through any past grief and his recent health complications, having
survived multiple strokes in 2019. He wanted everyone around him to be happy and provided for even though he himself struggled through so many storms.
There is a deep loss felt in his passing, but we can all be comforted knowing that he is finally free from his grief and pain and he is with our Father in Heaven, and is reunited with all of his loved ones that predeceased him.
He doesn’t have to be stronger than the storm anymore. He finally knows peace.
