Obituary for Richard Chapman Ross
Richard “Dick” Chapman Ross passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, July 19th, at Baptist Hospital in Kendall, Florida.
Dick was born on October 20th, 1950, in South Bend, Indiana to Emily (Chapman) and George Ross.
He attended Penn High School, Mishawaka, Indiana as well as Northwestern University, Chicago, Illinois and Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana. Following college, he and his brother ran the family business, Ross’ Tire Service, which later merged with Zolman Tire Company.
On May 2nd, 1981, in South Bend, Indiana, he married Karen Biel who survives.
Also surviving are his brother Robert (Trish) of South Bend, Indiana and their children Ryan and Meggan Ross, his brother-in-law Jeff Biel (Jeannie) of Cedar Lake, Indiana and nieces Natalie, Amanda and Lauren.
Cherishing his memory as well are his Uncle Tom (Karen) Ross and cousins Susi Aycock Williams, Mike Aycock and Emily Ross.
Dick and Karen have resided in Homestead Florida since 2005 and enjoyed vacationing in Key West.
He was a veracious reader, avid golfer, fancied 1000-piece puzzles, was the consummate grill master and ultimate fan of the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame and the Miami Dolphins. He truly loved entertaining his many friends while grilling under their poolside Tiki Bar.
Per his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. Assisting the family with arrangements is Branam Funeral Home in Homestead.
