Raquel H. Reyes' Obituary
Reyes Raquel H. Reyes, age 83, loving mother of two, adoring grandmother of three, passed away on January 27, 2024, after a courageous battle with cardio vascular disease. Raquel was born in 1940 in Caguas, Puerto Rico and grew up surrounded by a large family, including her 6 siblings. Raquel was inspired to move to New York City in 1957 where she met the love of her life, Ricardo. Together they built a family of their own. Raquel is survived by her daughter, Raquel Franco (Juan Antonio Marante), son, Ricardo Reyes (Karen Edelman-Reyes), granddaughters, Nicole Franco-Casey (Christopher Casey), Cristiana Reyes and Stella Reyes, brothers Samuel Hernandez, Jose Manuel Hernandez, sister Lillian Hernandez, and many nieces, nephews and extended family. She is predeceased by the love of her life, her husband, Ricardo Reyes, brother Ismael, and sisters Hilda and Louisa. Raquel was a loving mother and took infinite joy in her three beautiful granddaughters. She loved spending time with her family and spoiling them with gifts and good food. Raquel was also a professional woman spending much of her career as a textile supervisor in Manhattan. After her husband tragically passed away in 2001, Raquel eventually moved to Miami and became a security professional until the age of 80. She took pride in her work and enjoyed the friendships she made there. She will be greatly missed. Though we wish Raquel were still here with us to enjoy life, we know that she is with God, watching over us and reuniting with so many loved ones who went before her. There will be a private service at the time of internment in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico, where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Ricardo.
