Providencia Dolcine's Obituary
Providencia Dolcine, was born in La Romana, Dominican Republic
on August 3, 1939. Her parents: Mrs. Adriana Alcántara of Afro Taíno ancestries
and Don Zoilo José Adames of Spanish descent who was an affluent farmer in the
area where they resided.
Her siblings: Bartolo, Caridad (deceased), Clemencia, Altagracia, Zoilo Jose
(deceased), and Mariana.
During her childhood, Providencia worked, along with her brothers, in the arduous
work of planting crops on her parents' farm where they helped milk their cows
and goats; raising chickens, pigs, and horses; and also collecting chicken and
guinea eggs. But not everything was work at Don Zoilo's farm. Providencia and
her siblings had fun, during their work hours, sliding down with “yaguaciles” in the
hills near the farm and playing “roba la gallina”, a game in which they hurried the
chickens by stealing their eggs and then being chased by them. the chickens
and roosters; the first to be pecked by one of the birds lost. They also ran through
the cornfields to see who was the first to come out of the maze.
Work and fun were the order of the day while studies had to be cut off due to the
tension in the area caused by the Trujillista dictatorship.
Providencia was married to Mr. Dorcivil Dolcine(deceased), with whom she had
3 children: Fabiola Dolcine, Retired NMB Police Sergeant Juan Dolcine, and
Damaris Dolcine Álvarez.
Providencia dedicated herself to a career in sewing and became one of the
seamstresses for Vidal Sasoon, Carolina Herrera, and Oscar de la Renta. She was
also the seamstress for the schools her children attended.
Providencia's life took an unexpected turn when she was diagnosed with breast
cancer in 1997. Her husband succumbed to prostate and liver cancer in 1998 and
she, in turn, was affected again with breast cancer in 2000. Her health seemed to
decline on several occasions; but her faith and desire to live helped her stay firm
and strong for her loved ones. Providencia’s health deteriorated once again in
2024 when she was stricken with liver/pancreatic cancer. Unfortunately, the
condition was unknown to her and her family; she lost her battle to the disease on
December 12, 2024 but won her heavenly garments the same day.
All her life she has been a great support to many, especially her siblings, nephews,
children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as her neighbors,
brothers from her church and friends. Her kindness, humility, and dedication to
others have been her greatest virtues.
Providencia renounced to Catholicism in 1982 to become a servant of her Lord
Jesus Christ, which increased her faith in God and paved the way for her dream
of becoming a missionary,
Providencia is survived by her children: Fabiola Dolcine (divorced); Juan Dolcine
and wife Isabel Dolcine; Damaris Dolcine and husband Edwin Álvarez.
Her grandchildren: Miguel Dolcine; Edwin Alvarez; TyJuan Dolcine(deceased);

Providencia has been a living example of the Proverbs 31 woman: a virtuous
woman who has been praised for her actions and for fearing Jehovah. As
described in Proverbs 31:10-31 Providencia has been:
• Worker - who got up at night to feed her family after her husband was
deported from the Dominican Republic for political reasons.
• Generous who always extended her hand to the poor and needy
• Wise not only by her words, but also by her actions
• Reliable and also managed her time properly
• Ingenious and at the same time made good use of money
• Strong and full of energy
• She was always worthy of being praised and rewarded for everything she has
done
Providencia was a warrior who always fought for the benefit of her family and
everyone around her.
My word to you ALL today is:
Don’t allow one moment, one incident, one mistake, one chapter to define your
entire life! It doesn’t work that way. Your hardest times often lead to the
greatest moments of your life. You may feel your tests are harder than most but
the Almighty tests each one of us differently!
Do not allow your attachment to the past to be greater than your commitment
to the future – YOUR FUTURE.
Whenever you feel defeated, remember that the Almighty is the strength in your
weakness. Constantly connect with Him in your daily affairs. Always ask Him to
protect you from acting out of irrational decisions that lead to bad
consequences. Always take a step back when needed!
• Ecclesiastes 3:1-2a: "For everything, there is a season, and a time for every
matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die"
• Hebrews 9:27: "People are destined to die once, and after that to face
judgment"
• Romans 14:8 - For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the
Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's.
• Psalm 90:12: "Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of
wisdom"
• Ecclesiastes 7:2: "It is better to go to a house of mourning than to go to a
house of feasting, for death is the destiny of everyone"
Be safe, stay blessed.
I love you
