Luke 10:25-37 "The Good Samaritan"
I have known Orlando for over 25 years. Over the years, we became close, and our relationship grew. He was like a father to me. For those that got to know him and for those that knew him, knew he was a very special person. His sense of humor, his presence, his joy, and the will to always help others were unique qualities that he carried. Now that he has moved on with the Lord, I think about the parable of the Good Samaritan. Orlando was the Good Samaritan. He loved his neighbor just as he loved himself and at times, he loved more. He always put others first and he was always last. It was a God given gift which he shared with others. The gift of help, love, and friendship. My family and my children were very lucky to have had him for the time we did. He was always there for us and never said, "no". I am sure that all who knew Orlando can attest and account the various times where he reached out to help, love, and just be a friend. May he rest in peace, and I am certain he was first in line to get through the gates of Heaven.
