Ofelia Rodriguez's Obituary
Ofelia “Ofe” Rodriguez of Miami, FL passed away on February 8th, 2023, from a stroke. She left this Earth surrounded by her three daughters and loving family.
Ofe was born in Pinar del Rio, Cuba in May of 1931. At the age of eight she and her father moved to Cojimar where she grew up. Ofe was a happy, positive, resilient, energetic and headstrong young lady that faced life without fear. Around the age of 15 she became a manicurist. Then at the age of 18 she pursued a career as a professional singer. She sang at several popular venues, but decided to leave the profession when the Revolutionaries started bombing theaters.
In 1958 she married the love of her life, Roman “Romi”. In 1959, due to the revolution and dictatorship they left Cuba and came to the USA with their first-born daughter in their arms and the second one on the way. They left with the hope of always returning which never occurred. Second daughter was born in 1959 and a third daughter in 1967.
With lots of love, understanding, mutual support and hard work they established a beautiful successful life in the US and raised their three beloved daughters. Ofe’s main universe was always her family. But Ofe was also more than a wonderful and caring wife and mother. Ofe was a woman full of optimism and happiness with her own interests and talents. Ofe loved to sing, dance, paint, go shopping, cook, care for pets and enjoyed gardening.
Survived by her brother Serafin Leal; her three daughters: Ofelia Lucia Rodriguez, Adela Alvarez and Lourdes Rodriguez as well as her two grandchildren and two son-in-laws, which had become the sons she never had.
