Nettie Vila's Obituary
Con profunda tristeza anunciamos el fallecimiento de nuestra madre, Nettie Vila, el lunes 12 de agosto de 2024, en Miami, Florida. Nettie nació el 30 de julio de 1947, y acababa de celebrar su 77 cumpleaños. Nettie emigró de Santa Clara, Cuba, a los 13 años con sus padres, José M. Vila y Nereida A. Vila. Tenía dos hermanos, Braulio M. Vila y José F. Vila, ambos fallecidos. Nettie dominó rápidamente el idioma inglés en su adolescencia y tuvo una exitosa carrera como asistente ejecutiva para líderes sénior durante casi 40 años. Era alegremente conocida como la maestra del café Cubano y a menudo se la veía repartiendo taza tras taza a todos los que necesitaban un impulso. Nettie fue una madre dedicada para Lourdes M. Brant (54) y Jorge L. García (48), así como una abuela amorosa para sus nietos, Jesse E. Brant, Tristan M. Brant, Elizabeth M. Davenport, Robert L. García y John B. García. También fue bisabuela de Silas A. Davenport. Nettie ofrecía generosamente su tiempo para enseñar manualidades a los residentes ancianos del centro comunitario de la Ciudad de Hialeah, y con frecuencia ayudaba a traducir y completar documentos para quienes necesitaban ayuda. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Nettie Vila, on Monday August 12, 2024, in Miami, Florida. Nettie was born on July 30th, 1947, and had just celebrated her 77th birthday. Nettie immigrated from Santa Clara, Cuba at the age of 13 with her parents, Jose M. Vila and Nereida A. Vila. She had two brothers, Braulio M. Vila, and Jose F. Vila, both deceased. Nettie quickly mastered the English language in her teens and had a successful career as an Executive Assistant to Senior Leaders for nearly 40 years. She was cheerfully known as the Cuban coffee master and was often seen distributing cup after cup to all who needed a boost. Nettie was a dedicated mother to Lourdes M. Brant (54), and Jorge L. Garcia (48), as well as a loving grandmother to her grandchildren, Jesse E. Brant, Tristan M. Brant, Elizabeth M. Davenport, Robert L. Garcia, and John B. Garcia. She was also a great-grandmother to Silas A. Davenport. Nettie selflessly volunteered her time to teach arts and crafts to elderly residents of the City of Hialeah community center, and frequently helped to translate and complete documents for those who needed help. Nettie was always the life of the party and always helped those in need even at great personal cost to herself. Nettie will truly be missed by all who knew her. She can now enter her rest among the stars in Heaven, and shine brightly in the sky as she did on the earth. We will miss you Mom, we Love you!
Per her request, there will be no viewing or funeral service, but a celebration of life will planned for a later date.
