My fondest memories of Tía Lucía are so many. I always lovingly called her Tía Lucía. I still remember her calling me el bandido when I was a little kid, which always made me feel seen and loved. She was such a nice, sweet, kind, and gentle soul.
I remember our trips down the Jersey Shore with Tío Juan, Juan Carlos, and Odalys. I remember birthdays, Thanksgiving, las veladas de San Lázaro, and Nochebuena celebrations at our home or theirs. Those family moments meant so much.
I also remember visiting the jewelry and clothing store, and later working there as a teenager. She was part of so many chapters of my life.
When I think of her, I think of warmth, family, tenderness, and love. She will always hold a special place in my heart.
