Mario Ruiz's Obituary
Mario Ruiz, 92, of Miami Lakes, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on January 19, 1934, in Placetas, Cuba, to America and Ramon Ruiz, Mario lived a life defined by love, kindness, hard work, and unwavering devotion to his family, faith, and community. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose generosity, humility, and quiet strength touched the lives of everyone who knew him.
Mario dedicated his career to the profession he loved as a barber and later as the proud owner of Miami Lakes Barber Shop. He took great pride in serving his community through his work, sharing the business for many years with his older brother Rolando, and later with his son Richard. More than a place for haircuts, the barbershop became a gathering place where Mario’s warm smile, kind heart, and genuine interest in others made everyone feel welcomed.
Outside of work, Mario’s faith was the foundation of his life. For many years, he was a devoted member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where he faithfully served as an usher and a member of the Caballeros Catolicos. Later, he was an active member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church. His quiet service, generosity, and commitment to his church reflected the values by which he lived every day.
Above all else, Mario cherished his family, he shared a beautiful and enduring love with his wife, Hilda, who preceded him in death this past January. Together they built a life centered on faith, love, and family, and their devotion to one another was evident to all who knew them.
Mario is lovingly remembered by his children, Maria, David, Richard, and Sylvia; his children’s spouses, Carlos, Elizabeth, and Abilio; grandchildren Mailynn, Jenniffer, Nicholas, Alyssa, and Grace; his great-grandchildren Emily, Joshua, Madison, Kaitlyn, and Matthew; his sister Gloria; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Hilda, his brothers, and his sister.
Mario’s legacy of compassion, integrity, generosity, and unconditional love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was the sweetest, most caring person anyone could ever hope to meet, always ready with a warm smile, a kind word, and a helping hand. Though he will be deeply missed, the example he set and the love he shared will continue to inspire his family and friends for generations to come.
