Maria Luisa Veloz's Obituary
Maria Luisa Fernandez Quirch de Veloz aka Miriam Veloz age, 90, born in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba, passed on October 18, 2022. Her family and friends will remember her as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She was devoted to her children who she loved unconditionally.
She had a love of her native Cuba that never faded and always spoke of her “cubita linda”. She immigrated to the United States and was eternally grateful to her adopted country which she called the greatest country in the world.
She was loyal to her friends who she called her sisters. She was genuine, authentic, and fun. She was a straight shooter who always saw things in a positive light. She was a great storyteller who would enthrall you with her stories of times passed and the funny antics that took place.
She was generous, genuine, authentic and kind.
Although widowed in the 1980s, she always spoke of her beloved Miguel Angel who she longed to be reunited with in heaven.
She always said that when she left us to go to heaven, she didn’t want us to besad, because it was part of the cycle of life. Instead, she wanted us to celebrate her life with prayer and a party (with good music).
Miriam is survived by her children: Miguel Angel, his son, Miguel Angel III; her daughter Marisa, her husband, Tony DeCresie and their children, Isabella and Richard; her son, Eugenio, his son Vincent; and her daughter Cecilia and her husband, Michael O’Connell. She also survived by one of her seven brothers, Alberto Fernandez.
