Maria M, Romero's Obituary
Maria M. Romero, 91, passed away on August 12, 2020 in Miami, FL. Maria Manuela or “Elsita” as she was known to family, was born in Cuba where she was a lawyer and judge before immigrating to the United States. She studied law a second time in the United States graduating from the University of Miami School of Law in 1976. Elsita had a strong faith in God and was an extraordinarily intelligent, generous, humble, and kind woman. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Elsita is survived by her daughter, Elsie Romero (Jack Plunkett, Jr.) and her beloved granddaughters, Camille Plunkett and Cassandra Plunkett. She is also survived by her cherished older sister, Maria L. Fernandez, and her much-loved nieces and nephews and their children: Lisette, Rodriguez, Marily Rodriguez, William Vargas, Arsenio Pino (Elizabeth Pons), Jorge Pino and Janet Pino. A funeral mass will be held at St. Agatha Catholic Church on Saturday, August 22 with a private entombment at a later date.
