Maria Gonzalez's Obituary
Maria (Mari) Gonzalez, age 92, formerly of Weston, Florida, passed away Tuesday March 24, 2026. Born in Madrid, Spain in 1933, she relocated to Nicaragua in 1968 and immigrated to the United States in 1985. Mari is a member of the St. Agatha Catholic Church in Miami. She was an accomplished and in-demand seamstress in all three countries. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, community donation volunteer and friend who loved people and entertaining with her Spanish culinary delights. Mari enjoyed traveling the world and visiting all continents during her golden years. Preceded in death by her parents Jose and Sagrario Sanchez and three brothers Gonzalo, Pedro and Luis Sanchez, all in Madrid, Spain. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Duilio Gonzalez; four sons, Duilio and his wife Cecilia of Miami, Renato and his wife Marsha of DeLand, Florida, Igor and his wife Marielena of Miami, and Boris and his fiancé Rosa Lopez of Collierville, Tennessee; seven grandchildren, Rachel of Appleton, Wisconsin, Jonatan of Miami, Aina and her husband Michael Bueso of Miami, Gabriel of Zephyrhills, Florida, Susan and Samantha of Collierville, Tennessee, Lucas of Miami, and her great grandchild Molly Reigel of Appleton, Wisconsin.
A private mass service will be held at 10:00 am at St. Agatha Catholic Church, on Tuesday April 21, 2026, at 1111 SW 107th Ave., Miami, Florida. It will be immediately followed by a funeral service at 12:00 noon at the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Cemetery located at 11411 NW 25th St. in Doral, Florida. In lieu of flowers, if desired, friends and family may make memorial contributions to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org).
