Contreras, Maria Jaramillo's Obituary
Adored aunt and great-aunt Maria Jaramillo Contreras, age 94, passed away Sunday, March 23. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jaime Contreras, and her brother, Juan Edgar Jaramillo. She is survived by her brother Luis B. Jaramillo.
Maria was born in Medellin, Colombia where she spent her early years. She moved to Miami, Florida in 1962. Maria Helena had 7 nieces and nephews, 14 great nieces and nephews and 12 great-great nieces and nephews. She was an avid gardener who loved her plants. She was an expert on her sewing machine, an excellent cook, and an all-around wonderful loving person. She was the eldest of many grandchildren and gave her grandparents, aunts and uncles unique nicknames. Family was very important to her, and she was full of stories and tales. She was a beautiful lady who will be remembered by her unique style and elegance. She will be truly missed.
