Lydia B. Diaz's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Lydia B. Diaz. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 7th.
Lydia was born on August 20, 1936, in Havana, Cuba, and lived a full and remarkable life. She came to the United States from Cuba with her husband and young family in 1961 in search of freedom from communism. She was a hard worker who worked multiple jobs to care for her family and secure the American dream.
Lydia was a devout Baptist and was a regular at her church, where she found solace and fellowship in her faith. Lydia was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always put the needs of her family above her own. She was known for her kind and caring nature, and she touched the lives of all who knew her with her warmth and generosity.
Lydia was passionate about local and national politics, always supporting candidates who fiercely defended democracy. She had a passion for sewing and enjoyed traveling the world with her husband, Renato. A talented cook, her delicious meals will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to enjoy them.
Lydia will be deeply missed by her three children (Maggie, Renato, and Ruben), four grandchildren (Mitchell, Alexandra, Anastatia, and Ruben) her five great-grandchildren (Adrian, Andrew, Daniel, Evan, and Adam), our family dog (Buddy), as well as her extended family and friends. We take comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with our father and grandfather, Renato D. Diaz, and her parents, Marcelo and Aurora Briel.
A wake will be held in her honor at San Jose Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 11th at 6 PM. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 12th at 11 AM, followed by her burial at 2 PM at Vista Memorial Gardens in Miami.
May she rest in peace.
