Lilliam Carmen Barros' Obituary
Lilliam “Lilly” Garcia-Barros was born in Havana, Cuba on August 22, 1936.
Lilly was a devout Catholic and lived her life enjoying her family and dear friends.
It was at Santa Maria del Mar where she met Jose “Pepe” Barros the love of her life. They soon married and the newlyweds lived happily in Havana and soon started their family with the birth of their daughter Lilly. Immigrating to Spain in the early sixties where Pepe’s family was from the family continued to grow with the birth of son, Joe “Pepito”.
Eventually the family moved to Jacksonville, Florida where they made wonderful memories with their friends.
Years later, the family moved to Miami, Florida where she was active in the community in particular at the “Centro Hispano Catolico Child Care Center”, serving on various committees the Board, and eventually as President.
She was also very active in the Baldor Alumni Association, the high school in Havana from where she graduated. She organized a number of the reunions where many came to Miami from all over the world to reunite with their classmates from many years gone by.
Lilly’s smile would light up a room even in the last difficult months. She lived a long life full of happiness and joy. She sang, she danced, and she loved and was loved. She died quietly and peacefully in the arms of her devoted husband of 68 years. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Vicente and Rosalia Garcia and her brother Vicente Garcia.
