Lekhram Ramkhelawan's Obituary
In loving memory of Lekhram Ramkhelawan, also known as Basant, who departed from this life on August 11th, 2021. He was born in Port Mourant, Berbice, Guyana on May 24th, 1945 to his parents Backwa and Rookmin Ramkhelawan. He was brother to Kamal, the late Chetram, Sabita, Niranjan, Anand, Vidya, and the late Pramila. He loved and cherished his friends and family including all his cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He started his education by attending Port Mourant (English) primary school and went on to complete his degree in education at the University of Guyana. He spent his entire life educating and helping young children as a teacher and school principal. His favorite hobby was to watch cricket and follow the latest news.
Basant married his loving wife, Olive, on April 4th, 1970. They lived happily together for 51 years and welcomed 3 children, Kavita, Devika, and Sunil. His grandchildren, Brandon, Taslema, Rebecca, Inti, Neo, Jasmine and Belle were his pride and joy, and he doted on them. He will be fondly remembered by his loving family and friends, who will all miss him terribly. His legacy will live on forever. May the almighty Lord grant you an eternal resting place. We love you.
