Kathleen M Smith's Obituary
Kathleen Marie Smith, 61, passed away peacefully Friday, September 16, 2022. She was born January 22, 1961 in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin to John and Genevieve O’Neill. The family relocated to Bloomington, Illinois when Kathy was eight years old. Kathy graduated from Central Catholic high school and then attended Parkland College. She married Ronald Smith in 1985. They moved to Homestead, Florida where she lived at the time of her passing. She was a travel agent and travel manager for Del Monte Foods for many years and was looking forward to retirement at the end of this year.
Kathy loved life and had a quick wit an amazing sense of humor. Although she had no children of her own, she loved and spoiled all her nieces and nephews never missing a birthday or holiday and was the life of all family gatherings. She was a very organized, hard worker and sought after for every graduation and celebration party. She was well known in the travel industry, but was not, herself, fond of traveling. She loved her home and enjoyed her many plants, her family and the beautiful Florida sunshine.
Kathleen is preceded in death by her father, John T O’Neill; her brother, John Thaddeus Davis; her stepfathers Clay Troxell Davis and Robert William Thomson, maternal and paternal grandparents; two beloved aunts. Surviving is her loving husband of 37 years, Ronald Smith. She is also survived by her mother, Genevieve (Jean) Davis -Thomson; sister, Laura Jean (Thomas) Bowen; their five children and spouses and John Davis’ three children; eight great grand nieces and nephews.
