Kamin Maharaj's Obituary
Kamini Maharaj, age 55, beloved mother of four and wife to Ramesh Maharaj, died peacefully on February 19 in South Florida. Daughter of Rohini, Kamini was born April 12, 1968 in Corentyne, Guyana, where she grew up with her four siblings. In 1982, she and her family migrated to the United States to start a new life. The following year she met the young man who would eventually become her devoted husband when they married in 1987.
Kamini enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—from meditating each morning before sunrise, following her Asian soap operas when she could, playing games, cuddling with her pet dogs, and spending time with family. Before leaving this world, she was blessed with the joy of witnessing her children flourish and grow into amazing young adults, and seeing her first grandchild take his very first steps. And for Kamini, life was just that—an experience you leaned into.
This outlook was quietly expressed in her career as a respiratory therapist, and role as a nurturing mother, supportive wife, and steadfast friend. Where Kamini saw talent and potential, she fostered courage and self-belief. Indeed, this will be one of her greatest legacies. Kamini will be deeply missed by husband Ramesh Maharaj, children Keera Macko (Joshua), Daya Lalta (Devin), Shashi Maharaj (Jackie), Tulsi Maharaj; cherished grandson, Jaiden Macko; mother, Rohini, siblings Beerdat Lachman, Nalini Lalta, Kris Lachman, and Moneshwar Lachman; as well as her aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends, all of whom loved her soft smile.
Rest in peace, beautiful Kamini.
