JOHN WILLIAM TURNER's Obituary
John William Turner aka Jay January 2, 1927 – October 12, 2025
John William Turner, of Homestead, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, at the age of 98. Known for his sweetness, stubbornness, and unmistakable charm, John was a man who lived life entirely on his own terms.
Born on January 2, 1927, John spent his life collecting not just antiques, coins, stamps, and baseball memorabilia, but also memories with the people he loved most. He could often be found at the bingo hall or cards in hand, surrounded by friends and laughter. A man of simple pleasures, John enjoyed his one beer a day and never started a morning without eggs and onions.
John was a devoted husband to his beloved late wife, Vilma Lee Turner, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, resilience, and partnership. He often spoke fondly of his mother-in-law, crediting her for shaping him into the man he became and helping him and Vilma build the life they cherished together.
He was a proud father to Michael (Mickey) Turner and Jerry Turner, a loving grandfather to Richard Turner, Michael Turner, and Ann Marie Turner, a joyful great-grandfather to Rochelle Turner and Ryleigh Turner. His legacy continues through his great-great-grandchild Sasha.
Later in life, John formed a special bond with his dear friend Usha, who became his trusted companion. He always said that the first time he saw her walking down the hallway at the nursing home, he knew she was going to be “his person” once his wife left this Earth.
John’s favorite saying, “If it’s not broken, don’t fix it,” summed up his outlook on life—steady, practical, and full of quiet wisdom. He will be remembered for his humor, his heart, and the unwavering love he gave to those lucky enough to know him.
His family and friends will miss him deeply but take comfort in knowing he is once again reunited with Vilma, sharing a beer and a laugh in heaven.
