John Orts' Obituary
John Orts, resident of Plantation, Florida has passed this last Sunday Nov. 14th in Ft. Lauderdale. He was an amazing Father, loved his family wholeheartedly & especially cherished my Mom, they were married for 63 years. There was no one as honorable and accepting as him. He had a zest for life that kept him going & not give up thru his final days. There was not a person that did not like him, he was gracious to all and made us shake our heads with his quirky dry humor. He was always ready for a good time, was an avid sports fan, loved baseball, rarely missed a Miami Marlins game & was a hoot tailgating at Dolphin Football games. The ladies always commented your Dad is “so cute!” He had a knack to always be able to take a nap no matter where he was & we would all just shake our heads & laugh. Dad loved to travel & explore the world extensively with my Mom but his favorite was going back to Spain several times with us all to share his culture & times with our cousins there. He especially enjoyed sharing with us Valencia where he was born in 1934. He attained his Masters in Business at DePaul University in Chicago, was CFO of The Harry Alter Company for many years until he ran his own A/C & Refrigeration distributorship in Miami. For the last 29 years he has been the CFO of General Hotel & Restaurant Supply in Miami. He never retired because his passion was accounting & numbers kept his mind sharp as a tack! (even though at home you might not think so at times, he would just smile & shrug). My Mom, sister, brother, 4 grandchildren, spouses & 1 great grandchild will greatly miss him & remember him always. Loved by his wife Nilda, Loving father of Juan Carlos ( Maureen), Tony (Debi), Grace (Mike), Cherished Grandfather of Nicole (Nick), Zack ( Brittney), Reese, Heidi, adored Great-Grandfather of Risa.
