Jairo Alfonso Benavides' Obituary
January 7, 1948 - May 28, 2023
Jairo Alfonso Benavides, originally of Bogota, Colombia, passed away after a long and beautiful life.
Alfie, as he was known throughout his community, was a generous and loving man who dedicated his life to providing the American dream to his two sons, Richard and Jairo, and his wife, Carmen, as well as extending that generosity to everyone that he knew. His passion for cycling was second only to his love for putting smiles on people’s faces. Everyone who knew him has a story about his gregarious and unselfish nature. He spent countless hours cooking, dancing, joking, and elevating the spirits of everyone who came in contact with him.
He is survived by his sons, his grandchildren, and wife and, most importantly, the vast community of loved ones that he built throughout his wonderful life.
In lieu of flowers, The Alfie Foundation will be fundraising to promote the implementation and expedition of road safety for the benefit of the cycling community. Additional details forthcoming.
