Gustavo Cubas Diaz's Obituary
Gustavo Cubas Diaz was born on August 23, 1953 in Havana, Cuba and passed away at home on August 16, 2021. He grew up in Puerto Rico and attended Robinson High School. He graduated from Cornell University with an engineering degree and then joined the family advertising agency, Publicidad Siboney. During a business trip to the Dominican Republic, he
met the love of his life, Mayra Nicolas. They were married a few months after they met, lived in Miami for one year and then moved to Sao Paulo, Brazil where his three children were born, Claudia, Gustavo and Gabriel.
Gustavo lived in Brazil for more than 25 years until he finally moved back to Miami in 2004.
Gustavo was an exemplary father, husband and son. Always kind, smart, very loyal and generous with his friends and family. He had a bright mind and amazing memory for historical events. He always listened and was supportive of his children. He never raised his voice, instead he would talk things through calmly. He was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. Gustavo was a proud husband, father and grandfather. We were lucky to have such a special person in our lives. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.
