Grady Allen See's Obituary
Grady Allen See, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, gained his angel wings on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, leaving a void in the hearts of so many who knew and loved him. He was 81 years old.
Grady Allen was born to Emma Rhodes and Elmer See, on November 1, 1940, in Beaumont, TX. Though his parents were still alive in 1950, his parents sent Grady Allen and 4 siblings, to the Waco State Home in Waco, TX. The Waco State Home is now known for their mistreatment of the children in their care, but Allen persevered and rose above following his time there. Allen credits his ability to maintain his sanity and gentle heart over the years to his sister Jackie Campbell, and to martial arts, that he was fortunate enough to learn outside of the orphanage and hold his own with the “care” takers and others.
Grady Allen entered the Army in 1957, becoming an elite sharpshooter, earned his certificate as an electrical mechanical engineer, was honorably discharged, and went on to work for Stanford University, in Palo Alto, CA, where he eventually retired from Stanford University as a Facilities Manager. He married and fathered a son, Dana See, on October 22, 1970. Allen later re-married Mercedes See on October 30, 1992, and became a father to her children Michael and Rachel Sanclemente. Allen took on a position at New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc. and was part of the Tool crib until he took a 2nd retirement in 2006.
Allen was large in stature but a big teddy bear with his family. He loved his wife Mercedes dearly, and his children very much. They took in two dogs into their lives, Bear and Prissy, and he doted on them, snuck them treats, and enjoyed walking them around the neighborhood. Especially, when Allen and Mercedes retired to Miami, FL in 2007. You could find him out every day with the dogs, at the swimming pool, all around their condo building or across the street at the dog park. Whether walking, using a walker or later with his wheelchair – he wanted to stay active. Though he lived with a lot of physical pain for a long time prior to his passing, he always had a great sense of humor and positive outlook on life. He can be heard saying “I’m still vertical”, when asked how he was doing. Allen made friends everywhere he went. His was direct with his words and you always knew where you stood with him.
Grady Allen’s memory will forever be cherished by his wife Mercedes, Dana (son) and Shannon See, Michael (son) and Jane Sanclemente; Rachel (daughter) and Mac Dee Fisher; grandchildren Dillon See, Leia and William Fisher, and cat Charlie.
Allen, it was a blessing and privilege to have you in our lives and we will always love you. A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, July 21, 2022, at The Ferdinand Funeral Home in Miami, FL. Burial will be private.

Especialmente, cuando Allen y Mercedes se retiraron a Miami, FL en 2007. Lo podías encontrar todos los días con los perros, en la piscina, alrededor de su edificio de condominios o al otro lado de la calle en el parque para perros. Ya sea caminando, usando un andador o más tarde con su silla de ruedas, quería mantenerse activo. Aunque vivió con mucho dolor físico durante mucho tiempo antes de su fallecimiento, siempre tuvo un gran sentido del humor y una perspectiva positiva de la vida. Se le puede escuchar decir "Todavía estoy vertical", cuando se le pregunta cómo estaba. Allen hizo amigos donde quiera que fuera. Fue directo con sus palabras y siempre supiste dónde estabas con él.

Allen, fue una bendición y un privilegio tenerte en nuestras vidas y siempre te amaremos. El viernes 21 de julio de 2022 se llevará a cabo un servicio de celebración de la vida en The Ferdinand Funeral Home en Miami, FL. El entierro será privado.
