Gloria Jean Subratie's Obituary
Gloria was a beautiful, compassionate and loving soul. This is her story in brief.
Gloria Jean Davis was born on October 16, 1943 to William and Iris Davis. She was the third of five children of three boys and two girls. Born in the United Kingdom, she had a simple life and was a competitive swimmer in which she had many successes. When she was sixteen years old, she met a dashing handsome man called Errol who was destined to become her husband. The two fell in love and married in 1962, shortly after they started their family and would eventually have six children, Debbie, Gary, Angie, Olivia, Felicia and Jeema.
Gloria left her home country to embark on a life of adventure when she immigrated to Spanish Town, Jamaica which was her husband's home. There Gloria excelled at being a mother, wife, and successful business owner. Gloria was a very hard worker but always believed in kindness. The people in the town grew very fond of her, calling her " Mother G" mostly in part because of her kindness to the locals and their children.
Gloria was known for her loyalty to her family and her dedication to her children. She excelled in these areas and was a master multitasker who was able to handle a business and take care of a large family.
Gloria eventually set her eyes on the United States and resided there the last 30 years of her life. There she continued to provide emotional support to her children and started a new career at Carnival Cruise Lines where she once again excelled, receiving several awards for excellent work.
Approximately eight years ago Gloria was diagnosed with Lewy Bodies, which led to a rapid decline in her health, mobility and eventually to her passing away on January 25, 2023.
Gloria touched the life of everyone she interacted with because of her gentleness, kindness, and compassion. She will be truly missed by family and friends.
