Mr Evan Stephen Brewster's Obituary
Evan Stephen Brewster, known as Steve, was born in a traditional family on August 24, 1965 in Akron, Ohio to his parents, Evan B. Brewster, Jr (passed) and Hannelore Brodersen.
His father’s lineage was from the Pilgrims, English Minister William Brewster, for which he was very proud. He and his family, received the honor of being officially recognized and became part of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants founded on January 12, 1897. He actively served five years in the United States Army receiving an honorable discharge.
Steve graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelor degree in International Relations. He also obtained a Bachelor of Science in Sport and Recreation Management from Florida International University and subsequently a license as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. Steve was bilingual in both English and German. He also spoke some Creole and Spanish.
He dedicated one year of his life to building homes for Habitat for Humanity in Haiti. He also served in the Kairos Prison Ministry. He enjoyed taking care of his patients in Mount Sinai Medical Center, bringing them joy and hope in the middle of the pain.
He liked to be outdoors, enjoyed sunsets and God’s creation in general. Steve had a passion for baseball and was very involved in the baseball team for which his son plays.
Steve loved God and was a faithful Christian servant. He was selfless and brave. Steve dearly loved his wife and children and was devoted to them.
He is survived by his mother, his wife Ada Batule Brewster, and his children Hannah Ruth Brewster and Evan Michael Brewster.
We know he is with the Lord. Steve will be in our hearts and deeply missed.
