Esther Vieito Linares' Obituary
Esther Vieito Linares, age 86, of Miami, Florida passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025. Esther was born in Havana, Cuba to Maria Benedicta Casas and Manuel Vieito.
Esther was the loving and devoted wife of Raul Linares, who predeceased her in September of 1989. Though she had no children of her own, she is survived by six nieces and nephews – Alejandro Canto, Elizabeth Smith, Kenia Viamonte, Nyurka Canto, Purificacion Perez, and Ralph Morales – who she mothered as if they were her own.
Her family will remember her generous spirit and her steadfast faith in God; whether it was money, food, or counsel, Esther gave what little she had without hesitation. She donated to many charities, especially those that served children and the sick. She never complained and was always grateful for her life’s bounty.
She loved purely, simply, and strongly, and was loved that way in return.
She will be celebrated in a mass for family and loved ones. To honor her memory, her family encourages you to uplift someone in prayer, visit a loved one for una tacíta de cafecíto, and – as she often advised we do – “Quiéranse, siempre.”
Esther Vieito Linares, de 86 años, de Miami, Florida, falleció el domingo 13 de abril de 2025. Esther nació en La Habana, Cuba, hija de María Benedicta Casas y Manuel Vieito. Esther era la amorosa y devota esposa de Raúl Linares, que falleció antes que ella en septiembre de 1989. Aunque no tuvo hijos propios, le sobreviven seis sobrinas y sobrinos: Alejandro Canto, Elizabeth Smith, Kenia Viamonte, Nyurka Canto, Purificacion Pérez y Ralph Morales, a quienes fue madre como si fueran suyos. Su familia recordará su espíritu generoso y su firme fe en Dios; ya fuera dinero, comida o consejo, Esther dio lo poco que tenía sin dudarlo. Ella donó a muchas organizaciones benéficas, especialmente a las que servían a los niños y a los enfermos. Ella nunca se quejó y siempre estuvo agradecida por la generosidad de su vida.
