He met me when I was 8Mo. Old. When he married my sister I was 3 yrs. Old and I called him “Tio Ernesto”
When my Daddy past away Tio Ernesto took over as a father figure to me.
He was always kind and loving to me. After I move to the states and went to Puerto Rico for a visit Tio and I share the Tropical Ice cream adventure!!! We use to go ( just us) to an ice cream parlor in the town of Rio Piedras and competed on which one of us could eat as many flavors of ice cream ( there where 154 varieties of tropical ice cream flavors to choose from) he he will say to me “ I’ll give you five dollars if you eat five scoops each of a different flavor” he always won!
On the way back to his house we will laugh as how miserable we felt! but, on my next visit to the island we will go to the same ice cream parlor and have ice cream all over again!
Im going to miss our long talks Tio, your laughs and your sudden phrases in French that I couldn’t understand!!!
Tio Ernesto thank you for stepping in and being a father figure to an orphan little girl, for always being there for mom and me and making sure our pantry was always full. I’m going to miss you Tio Ernesto but I know you are already in a better place and maybe someday if there is an ice cream parlor in heaven… we will meet again! All my love to you Tio
Ernesto
