Ritchie, Edward Owen's Obituary
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Edward “Owen” Ritchie of Marathon, FL, on
Thursday, January 2, 2025.
This beautiful, wonderful, generous, kindhearted, loyal man of so many professions will truly never be forgotten and will be missed every day for the rest of our lives. He made us all better people by being in our lives, loving, and caring for each of us.
There was nothing he did not accomplish. He was a certified mine foreman, certified GM mechanic, boat mechanic, sailor, and he loved NASCAR, drag racing, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. But his greatest joy was being a devoted son, husband, and grandpa. He loved spending time with his family, and his devotion to his friends (family) of Boot Key Harbor was a source of great pride for him.
Owen was born on October 21, 1973, to Aubrey Dameron Curtiss. He was raised in Newport News, VA, but spent his summers on the Chesapeake Bay with his grandparents. He was a devoted husband to Ann for 21 wonderful years, and she’ll miss him every day. His daughter Violet Ann will miss him tremendously, his advice in hard times, and his mechanical knowledge so she can fix her own car.
Owen is survived by his wife Ann, his daughter Violet Ann, his son-in-law Jessie, his nephew Mason who was like a son, his niece Phoebee who was like a daughter, his mother Audrey Dameron Curtiss, his grandchildren T.J. Mushette, Tre Bowen, Mikaela Garcia, his fur baby and loyal companion Jemma, and all of his family and friends of Boot Key Harbor.
He was preceded in death by his brother Ryan Ritchie, stepfather Henry Curtiss, and stepson Lewis “Boo” Bowen.
As his friend said, “Our beacon is gone, but he’s still shining, for knowing he made us all better people. We love and miss you!”
