Dorothy May Deane's Obituary
Dorothy was born in the Motor City of Detroit, Michigan & has one sister. At the ripe old age of four, her father moved the family to the Magic City of Miami, FL, where her father opened a plant nursery.
Dorothy's mom came from Tuam, Co. Galway. In 1996, Dorothy went back to see the old country along with her niece. She loved Ireland & was excited to visit with her cousin & discovered so much about her Irish roots.
Dorothy's dad was of English & Scottish descent & loved his heritage. Dorothy paternal grandparents were from Paisley, Scotland. Dad loved the accordion & also played the piano.
Dorothy graduated from Miami Senior High School & worked as a secretary. In the 1950s, work was scarce in Miami & Dorothy moved to Schenectady, New York. There she worked for General Electric in the Guided Missile program & had security clearance from the FBI. A few years later, Dorothy returned to the Sunshine State & worked at the University of Miami, until she retired after 28 years of loyal service.
Dorothy has been a faithful member of the Irish American Ceili Club for 10 years & traveled 30+ miles from Kendall to meet all her friends & to enjoy the Irish music & dancing. Her favorite songs are "Dublin in the Rare Ould Times" & "The Town I loved so well".
Dorothy, Keep a smile on your face & a song in your heart! See you at the November Ceili!
"May the good saints protect & bless you today.
And may trouble ignore, each step of the way".
