Donna Lee (Gouge) Schmitt. Age 74 of Little Torch Key, Fl, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.
Donna was born September 28, 1950 in Clearwater Florida to the late Guy and Carol Gouge.
Donna spent her childhood in Florida until she moved to Delaware where she graduated from William Penn High School in 1968. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper at Temporary Solutions in Wilmington, DE. Donna obtained her Associates Degree in Accounting from Delaware Technical Community College in Dover, DE. She then accepted an accounting position at Corrado American and spent many happy years with them until her transition into retirement.
In Donna’s early years, she enjoyed learning different country line dances and frequently attended classes at Friendly’s Tavern. She was also a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose. Donna spent her recent years enjoying her time reading, enjoying her family and friends, and relaxing in the Florida Keys.
Left to cherish her memory are her partner in life, Jim Stryholuk of Little Torch Key, daughter Karen (Schmitt) Sheats and husband Matthew Sheats of Townsend Delaware, daughter Joanne (Schmitt) Sarver and husband Randy Sarver of Fountain, North Carolina, granddaughter Emily Schmitt, granddaughter Sara Sheats, grandson Ryan Sarver, grandson Tyler Sarver, and many loving family and friends from Wilmington, DE to Little Torch Key, FL.
Following Donna’s wished, she will be cremated with a private ceremony to follow. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Autism Society in honor of her memory.
