Diosdado Rivero's Obituary
Diosdado Rivero, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and advocate for freedom, passed away at the age of 93. Born in Pinar del Río, Cuba, Diosdado immigrated to the United States in 1971, seeking a life of opportunity and liberty. He spent a total of 12 years as a political prisoner in Cuba, enduring unimaginable hardships but never losing his spirit. His unwavering commitment to justice and freedom remained a cornerstone of his life, continuing to shape his path in the U.S. as he fought for the rights of others.
Diosdado is survived by his four children, Nancy Rodriguez, Maytle Rivas, Jannet Rivero, and Leandro Rivero, who will forever carry his legacy in their hearts. He was also deeply loved by his 11 grandchildren: Delilah, Michelle, and Ruben Rivas; Michael and Ashley Lawson; Adriana Alba; Christian, Aiden, and Gabino Rivero; and Alejandro and Nicolas Rodriguez. His memory will live on through his four great-grandchildren, Jasmine and Liam Garcia, and Jayden and Caleb Ruiz.
Throughout his long life, Diosdado’s love for family, his tenacity in the face of adversity, and his lifelong advocacy for freedom will continue to inspire all who knew him. He was a devote Catholic and demonstrated his passion for God daily. He had many interests and passed on his love of reading, poetry, medicine, animals, plants, and fishing to his loved ones. His remarkable journey is a testament to his strength and resilience, and he will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have crossed his path.
In his passing, we honor a man who truly lived for freedom, family, and God; whose impact will be felt for generations to come.
The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. We encourage everyone to donate to St. Jude Children Hospital in leu of sending flowers.
