David John Szura's Obituary
David John Szura was born June 25,1955 in McKees Rocks, Pa. He lived his life moving between Pennsylvania and Southern Florida. His last five years have been in Homestead, Fl. Butler, Pa had been home to him for a long time as well.
He was always kind and generous to his family and friends, never saying “No” to favors asked. He always seemed to see the good in others.
He attended Edinboro College in Pennsylvania where he enjoyed playing soccer. He has many friends there from his fraternity days.
He had been employed with Fedex for over 25 years and retired in 2020. He had also been employed with Pennzoil and was with them during the early days of Nascar at Homestead Speedway. Regardless of where he lived the Pittsburgh Steelers were his team. He collected everything he could that said ”Pittsburgh Steelers”, shirts, mugs, hats, flags, banners,, etc. No doubt who his team was, always wearing something that said “Steelers”. The Pittsburgh Penguins also had a part of his heart.
He loved and was so proud of his son, Chris who spent much of this last year with him supporting him every way he could. They took small trips together to Pittsburgh and the Keys and just enjoyed their time together.
He also leaves his son David (Glenda) and granddaughter Zoe, brother Pete (Elaine), sisters Judy Turner (Howard) and Carol Reilly (Phil) as well as a multitude of nieces, nephews, their children and many cousins especially in Pittsburgh. He was special to all of them. His friends were everywhere from Pittsburgh and Butler to South Florida. He will be missed by many and remembered often.
A special thank you to doctors and nurses at Miami Cancer Institute and the nurses and staff of 4 Tower at Baptist Main Hospital.
