Catherine Margaret Feeney's Obituary
FEENEY, Catherine Margaret, 80, born in White Plains, New York passed away on August 7, 2020. Graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Cemetery at 9:30 am. A memorial service will be held at a later date for family and friends that cannot attend due to COVID-19.
Catherine was known as Cathy to friends and Aunt Dolly to family.
The name “ Dolly” came from when she was a child and people would say that she looked like a little doll.
She attended and graduated High school in Eastchester, New York .
She attended college at Hunter College in New York City.
She and two of her close first cousins ( Kay and Anne) took a ship with their parents to Ireland and then visited several countries during her college years.
When she returned home from her trip to Europe, she joined the Sisters Of Charity in New York , where she worked as a teacher and later the Principle,
at a New York City Catholic school. She told stories about the fact that John F. Kennedy’s children , Carolyn and John Jr. attended school there.
She was the family Historian that she took over from her Father , James Feeney Sr.
She could tell you stories and facts about both sides of the family on the O’Sullivan’s ( her mother Catherine “Kate’s family ) and the Feeney’s ( her father’s family ),
who all came here from Ireland. The Feeney family actually Homesteaded in Eastchester. New York.
She would often tell about the other Irish Family members and ancestors ; The Fallon’s , The Dennehy’s and others.
She loved to talk about how the famous actor – Brian Dennehy , was her cousin and she would go to watch him play football in Highschool.
She was a wonderful, loving and caring Aunt to her nieces and nephews.
She was also a Godmother to her niece and grand nieces and nephews.
She loved her family and friends very much.
She would want everyone to know how much she loved her cats!
Tigger is buried at the Pet Memorial Cemetery in Miami and Tangee is in Miami now.
She had a beautiful singing voice and sang in school productions and at her niece “ Karen’s” wedding.
She was a Very devoted daughter and took very good care of her Father and Mother until they passed to Heaven.
We will miss her warm smile and kind ways, Always.
She has now joined her parents , her brother James Jr. (Jim) , her sister in law Catherine “Kitty “ Feeney, nephew’s Ryan and Jimmy , niece’s Dierdre and Lucy Airey and many other family and friends in Heaven.
She is survived by Doreen Albury, Samantha and Brian Carey , Diane Greene and Family , nieces and nephews , Catherine “Karen” and Johnny Morgison in Kentucky , John and Judy Feeney in Colorado , Brenda and Chris Frederick in Kentucky, Malachy Francis Feeney in Colorado , Celine Marie Feeney Wollenburg in Montana, Sean and Stacy Sharma in North Carolina, and Elaine Feeney in Colorado.
Great Nieces and Nephews , Brandon, Jessie, Braiden, Kaitlin and Ryland Morgison , Durand Feeney , Meggan Kathrine Frederick, Kayla Knuckles , Tristan Balsam, Sean Wood,
Kate Felicity Wood, Lisa Feeney Stroschine, Steven , Brandon and Justin Sharma.
