Audrey Fay Chapman Carroll's Obituary
Audrey Fay Chapman Carroll, 80, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2023, after an extended illness. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, David Carroll, her children Tim Chapman, Kelly (Randy) Davis, of Homestead, FL, and Jill (Steve) Smith of Hudson, NH and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Maureen Morency, Dena Descoteaux, and Mike Stevens. She was predeceased by her mother Virginia Chapman and sons Frank Chapman and David Carroll.
Audrey was born on January 31, 1943, in Milford, MA and spent many years with her great-grandparents Nana and Danta in Litchfield, NH. It would be there that she would quickly learn accompanying Danta on Saturday errands did not only mean getting out of chores, “errands” were spent at Fenway Park. She would soon fall in love with the Boston Red Sox and shared the love of the game and team with her children.
Audrey and family moved to South Florida in the early 70’s. It was a short time that she became adamant her children should know how to swim and spent the next several years volunteering at the West Miami YMCA giving swimming lessons to dozens of children. Many weekends were spent with sunrise breakfasts at Crandon Park Beach until the sun sets. She enjoyed crocheting blankets, sewing, quilting, crafts, and baking. She was dedicated to her family and loved decorating for all holidays but Christmas outshined every time. Audrey loved dogs and would find many a home.
Audrey worked for the Florida Department of Transportation as a Toll Collector for over 20 years. She retired to tend to her ailing mother. Upon retirement, she continued her hobbies but her favorite days were spent at family BBQ’s and swimming with her fur-grandbabies (Fenway, Sissy and Daisy).
A private family celebration will be held in Homestead. Audrey will be laid to rest in the family plot in Woodlawn Cemetery, Nashua, NH in June. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local Humane Society or Animal Shelter.
