Aristides A. Sosa's Obituary
Aristides Sosa was born in Cuba on August 15, 1936 to parents Aristides V. Sosa and Rafaela Vazquez. Aristides Sosa was the son of a 4 Star General and Secretary of Defense for Cuba and former mayor of Havana the Capital City. Aristides Sosa and his family had built a legacy in Cuba, but due to Political turmoil he chose to leave his beloved Country and Island paradise in search of political freedom. He took has talents, his education, and his character and set off for Miami Florida. He used everything he had, everything he knew to touch lives and contribute to the many communities and individuals he served. In addition to living and serving the Miami Dade Community where he held the position of Director of Community Relations and has been honored and accredited for implementing many programs that are still in effect to this day. He also spent many years in Kearney Nebraska where he raised his children and taught at The University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK). He started and was the head of the foreign language department; that still flourishes to this day. He built and started study abroad, and international foreign student programs that helped young people afford opportunities to learn. He passed away in Miami, Florida on August 22, 2019. He is survived by his loving wife, Paula L. Sosa. He had 3 children: Ana Salem, (married to Joseph Salem), Ari Sosa, (married to Mercy Sosa), Michael Sosa, (married to Jeanette Sosa). Aristides also had one surviving sibling: Rafael Sosa. His grandchildren are: Salim Salem, Samir Salem, Ari Sosa, Alex Sosa, Adam Sosa, Sabrina Cheramie, Samantha Luciene, and Sierra Sosa. His great-grandchildren were: Ariana Salem, Lily Luciene, and Luna Luciene.
