Oemma Ortega-Vazquez
In loving memory of our beloved grandmother, who was truly an extraordinary woman. She demonstrated unparalleled strength and resilience throughout her life's journey.
Amidst the tumultuous times of Cuba, she displayed remarkable courage by ensuring the safety of her daughters, sending them to the United States on their own while she sought a path to join them. She toiled tirelessly, working in a factory and selling Avon products door to door until she and my grandfather amassed enough savings to establish a small grocery store. From there, their ventures grew, eventually culminating in the establishment of a successful restaurant, a testament to their unwavering determination and the promise of the land of opportunity.
She was blessed with three remarkable daughters—Francys, Ileana, and Magaly, whose premature departure as early as 2022 left an unfillable void in our hearts. Throughout it all, her steadfast companion of 65 years, my grandfather, cared for her with unmatched devotion. He attended to her every need, grinding her food meticulously, ensuring she received her favorite meals, and advocating tirelessly for her wellbeing with healthcare professionals. His unwavering commitment and love are a testament to the depth of their bond.
Every morning, he diligently monitored her temperature and blood pressure, meticulously recording the data to share with her doctors, a reflection of his dedication to her care. His selfless actions fill us with immense pride and gratitude.
Abuela, your strength and resilience were awe-inspiring. Though you faced numerous challenges, you persevered with grace and dignity. Now, as you rest in peace, know that your legacy of love and fortitude lives on in our hearts.
You are reunited with your beloved daughters and granddaughter, finding solace in their embrace. We love you beyond measure and cherish the memories we shared. Until we meet again, may you find eternal peace and serenity.
