Ann Lorraine Moran, Intensive Care Nurse's Obituary
Ann Lorraine (Zwemer) Moran, 74, an Intensive Care Nurse, died July 1, 2025, from complications related to Lewy Body Dementia. She lived in Pembroke Pines, Florida since 2017. Her life was devoted to showing the love of Christ to her neighbors and the world through her family, her work, and in every aspect of her life.
Ann graduated from the University of Michigan with a BSRN (Bachelor of Science/Registered Nurse) in 1972. Upon graduation she served for 3 years with Campus Crusade for Christ (now known as CRU) focusing on outreach among international students at both the University of Florida and the University of Illinois. She later attended Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Chicago. Over the next 42 years she served as an intensive care nurse at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago, St. Luke’s/Methodist Hospital in Houston, and Mercy Hospital in Miami, Florida.
Ann was born December 21, 1950, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Her parents were Dr. Rodger and Betty Zwemer, of Vero Beach, Florida. She and her husband, the Reverend David Moran, of Statesville, North Carolina, were married on September 4, 1976 in Vero Beach.
She is survived by her husband, four brothers, three sisters, her five children -- Michael Moran, of Houston, Leah Acero, of Davie, Florida, Nathan Moran of Orlando, Andrew Moran, of Miami, and Miriam Gloria, of Houston – twelve grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A lifelong follower of Jesus Christ, her life was marked by courage, humility and selfless love. She exuded, in her person and homes, warmth and hospitality, which included nurturing as a foster mother. For 44 years she partnered with her husband, first in youth ministry in Chicago and later when he served as a Presbyterian (PCA) Minister in churches in Houston, Key Biscayne and Fort Lauderdale, Florida; teaching and training women, youth and children; creating programs to involve youth in community service in center city, Houston and Overtown in Miami; as well as leading church outreach programs for Spanish and Portuguese speakers. She was very active in Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami, as a builder, recruiter and serving on its Board of Directors.
A memorial service will be on July 12, 2025, at 1:30 p.m., at Rio Vista Church, Fort Lauderdale.
